According to Barron's, despite Apple announcing that it will use Nvidia GPUs to support some of its AI upgrades, Nvidia's stock price still fell 0.2% on Tuesday (June 9), to $208.19. However, Apple will not directly purchase chips from Nvidia; instead, it will use Nvidia hardware through Google Cloud's computing services, thereby limiting the chip manufacturer's short-term order volume. Apple will deploy its most advanced AI model, AFM 3 Cloud Pro, on Nvidia chips hosted on Google Cloud to handle high-end workloads such as AI agents and complex reasoning. Most Apple Intelligence features will still run directly on Apple devices. Oppenheimer analyst Martin Yang pointed out that Apple is pursuing a lightweight AI strategy, rather than building its own infrastructure like leading AI labs and large-scale cloud service providers.
