According to Israel’s N12 channel, on June 8, the finance minister, Bezalel Smotrich, urged the Security Cabinet to shift Israel’s response focus from Iran to Lebanon. Smotrich said that for each missile launched by Iran, Israel should destroy dozens of buildings in the Beirut Dahiyeh area. He believes this approach would be easier and more effective: it would both force Hezbollah to stop Iran’s actions and preserve Israel’s ability to carry out larger-scale strikes against Iran.
