Today I was reminded once again: don’t be too superstitious about “real-time on the chain.” The balances, transactions, and clearing lines you see when you open it up are often still syncing on the RPC node, or the indexer hasn't caught up, or even the node you're connected to is lagging… To put it simply, what you see is “someone else’s translated version of the on-chain data,” and if the translation is slow, you’re late.

My current approach is pretty crude: for large transactions, I stop first, take a moment to switch RPCs or browsers to check the block height, and if necessary, directly look up the original transaction hash; also, for authorization pop-ups, I stop and don’t rush to confirm—if the permissions stay open longer, I get more anxious, so I’d rather wait an extra minute.

Recently, everyone has been comparing RWA and US Treasury yields to on-chain yield products. I also get tempted, but just thinking about “the data might be delayed,” makes me want to pause even more. Otherwise, you might miss out on the yield, but the risk will be fully absorbed first. That’s all for now.
