Advisor to Iran's Supreme Leader: Denies meeting between the Supreme Leader and Trump
Iranian officials say that the peace agreement depends on whether the Trump administration unfreezes $24 billion in Iranian assets; if the U.S. resumes military actions, Iran will expand the war beyond the Persian Gulf. An advisor to Iran's Supreme Leader told CNN that negotiations are at an impasse, and Trump needs to break the deadlock, as they are currently in the early stages of talks. He emphasized that unfreezing funds is a confidence-building measure, but the U.S. is concerned that the unfreezing could weaken its leverage over the Iranian regime. If war resumes, the conflict could extend to the Indian Ocean, the Strait of Malacca, the Red Sea, and the Mediterranean, and warned that a meeting with Muqtada is not happening now.
