"Federal Reserve Mouthpiece": The non-farm payroll report won't fully resolve the debate over Fed rate hikes; short-term rate cuts are basically unlikely.

Mars Finance News, June 5 — "Federal Reserve mouthpiece" Nick Timiraos commented on this month's non-farm payroll data, believing that the spring hiring activity has accelerated again this year, providing more evidence for Fed officials who are concerned about inflation and think that the current interest rate levels are too low to contain a new round of price pressures. This employment report will not fully resolve the debate over how much the Federal Reserve should consider raising interest rates later this year, but it does further indicate that the reasons for cutting rates in the short term have essentially disappeared.
