Just now, I transferred a small amount on the chain, and it got stuck in the mempool waiting in line for half a day, I was exhausted... Basically, it's like a bunch of transactions waiting in line at the door, whoever pays the higher tip (gas) gets in first. During congestion, your transaction is like a takeout order being held by the delivery rider: either add more money to expedite, or keep waiting. While waiting, it might get snatched by someone else, your slippage could be wiped out, or it could even fail outright, wasting some fee. My kind of reverse indicator is even worse—if I get anxious and raise the gas, the next second the chain isn't congested anymore; if I don't, it just stays crowded. Recently, everyone talks about rate cut expectations, the dollar index, and risk assets going up and down, emotions running high, and the chain also gets crowded and squeezed... Anyway, now I breathe deeply before placing an order, don’t treat trading like a lottery. Alright, I’m off to work.
