A pilot struck by lightning twice—Hollywood wouldn't even dare write this script.

CryptoWorld News reports that, according to CBS in the United States, two people familiar with the relevant incident revealed that an F-15E fighter pilot who was shot down over Iran’s airspace also flew another aircraft during the early stages of the Iran war, and was shot down in a “friendly fire” incident at the time, when he was mistakenly targeted by Kuwaiti forces. Just over 30 days after escaping safely by ejection in the friendly fire incident, the pilot once again carried out a mission flying over Iran; the fighter jet he was piloting was hit by an Iranian surface-to-air missile, which was then followed by a daring rescue operation. “This is a very unusual coincidence,” said retired Air Force Major General David DePetrillo. DePetrillo said he could not think of any instance since the Vietnam War in which, in the same campaign, a pilot had been shot down in different accidental incidents—“it’s like being struck by lightning twice.”
