Commercial space suddenly hit a “black swan”: Blue Origin rocket exploded, RKLB saw massive sell-off
On June 2, 2026, U.S. equities remained steady overall. The S&P 500 and the Nasdaq Composite rose by 0.3% and 0.6%, respectively, but the space sector was hit by a fierce sell-off. Rocket Lab (RKLB) shares fell sharply by about 14.7% on the day, closing at $122.39, down more than 16% from the 52-week high of $150.23 set in May prior.
