According to the China Foreign Exchange Trade Center, the People’s Bank of China set the midpoint rate of the RMB against the US dollar at 6.8240 on May 28, down 51 basis points from the previous trading day, reflecting an appreciation of the RMB. The euro midpoint rate was set at 7.9121, down 113 points; the British pound midpoint rate was set at 9.1377, down 237 points; the Australian dollar midpoint rate was set at 4.8584, down 241 points; the Japanese yen (per 100 units) midpoint rate was set at 4.2732, down 72 points; the Swiss franc midpoint rate was set at 8.6489, down 279 points.
