I'm currently mainly using L2 for daily small transactions, and only move to the mainnet when necessary. It's not about saving that little bit of money by pretending to be poor; once the mainnet gets congested, my mood collapses... Last time, I transferred just 0.01 USDT for testing, and the gas fee kept jumping up and down, and I was just staring at the confirm button in a daze. The L2 experience is indeed smoother, but I have a strong suspicion, so I first check the bridge contract, look at some on-chain tags to see if any strange wallets are lurking, then proceed; if I find anything abnormal, I’ll withdraw immediately and ask later why.
Recently, everyone has been complaining again about validators/miners getting too fat, MEV frontrunning causing unfair ordering, basically retail investors are just queuing in the cracks... I don’t have much idealism either; a compromise is: use L2 frequently, but for cross-chain transfers, large amounts, or long-term holdings, I still prefer the mainnet, even if it’s a slow ten or more seconds, at least I can sleep soundly.
