A while ago, a friend convinced me to try social mining, saying that by checking in daily, posting, and inviting others, I could earn points to exchange for an "identity." At first, I was pretty into it, like watching a miner’s income curve with that tidal feeling: today’s fee rate is higher, tomorrow the inflation narrative changes again. Later, I realized I was sacrificing my evenings just for a badge, and I didn’t have time to look at more tangible things on the chain… Honestly, my attention was really being mined.

Once I saw the rules change again and the points needed to be recalculated, I suddenly couldn’t understand it anymore, so I just stopped: if I don’t understand, I won’t act. Losing that little “identity” didn’t make me sleep any less. Anyway, I’d rather go slow and not hand my daily life over to a task list.
