I noticed interesting statistics about the distribution of the Muslim population worldwide — it turns out, it's quite different from what many people imagine. When talking about Islamic countries, the Middle East immediately comes to mind, but in reality, the majority of Muslims live in other regions.

Indonesia alone has 242 million people, almost 87% of the population. In comparison, this is more than all Middle Eastern countries combined. Then comes Pakistan with 235 million (96%), India with 213 million, although that only accounts for 15% of the total population there. Bangladesh has 150 million, Nigeria 124 million. It’s clear that the center of the Muslim world is shifting toward South and Southeast Asia, as well as Africa.

If you look at Islamic countries by the percentage of Muslims in the population, the picture is different — Iran, Afghanistan, Yemen, Somalia are almost entirely Muslim. Egypt is 95%, Turkey 97%, Saudi Arabia 93%. And Malaysia is interesting — 63.5%, China with its 25 million Muslims is only 1.4% of the population.

Data from Pew Research Center in 2025 shows that the Muslim population continues to grow, especially in African and Asian countries. This is important to understand when analyzing global trends and geopolitical shifts. Islamic countries are becoming increasingly influential economically and politically, and this is reflected in world markets, including the crypto sector.
