Honestly, when I first started understanding trading, indicators seemed to be the main thing. But then I realized that everything is actually much simpler — you just need to learn to see what the market itself shows. We're talking about trading patterns that repeat over and over again.

Here’s what I’ve noticed over years of trading. A double top is when the price approaches the same level twice and can’t break above it. This is a clear signal that the bulls are exhausted. I often see a good pullback downward after such a pattern. A double bottom is the opposite — the price touches support twice and bounces back. This indicates that the bears have already spent their strength, and an uptrend may begin.

Another pattern I actively use is head and shoulders. This is a classic reversal figure that forms at the end of an uptrend. If you see three peaks, with the middle higher than the sides, it usually means a decline is near. It works quite reliably if confirmed by volume.

Flags and pennants are a completely different story. These are continuation patterns that show the market is taking a breather before continuing in the main direction. When I see this, I wait for a breakout and enter in the direction of the main trend.

A key point that many overlook is volume. Trading patterns work much better when confirmed by volume. If you see a figure but the volume is low, it could be a false signal. I always look at both parameters simultaneously.

Do I use these patterns constantly? Yes, they’ve become the foundation of my strategy. But the main thing is not to get fixated on a single tool. Combine patterns with other signals, and the results will be much better. If you also work with such figures, I’d be interested to hear which ones you like the most.
