What most reveals a person's fundamental character is not what they say they are, but "the first thing they remember." Because people do not randomly remember their childhood; what the brain retains are often the most painful, most longing, and emotionally weighted experiences from that time. Some remember being praised, some remember being humiliated; some remember lively crowds, others remember lonely corners. You might think they are telling a story, but in fact they are exposing their psychological blueprint. An adult's sensitivity, people-pleasing tendencies, inferiority complex, desire for control, and dependence are often drafted in that memory long ago. Childhood does not determine destiny, but it does influence the way a person is most accustomed to living.
