American sources say the Pentagon is preparing to resume military actions against Iran, with the U.S. and Israel potentially restarting strikes as early as next week. U.S. officials state that negotiations are currently at an impasse, and President Trump reiterated on the 15th that Iran’s proposed end-of-war plan is “unacceptable,” though he has not yet made a decision on the next steps.

Reports indicate that several U.S. officials have revealed that if the U.S. decides to resume military strikes against Iran, one option is to intensify bombing of Iranian military and infrastructure targets; another option is to deploy special operations forces on the ground to acquire Iranian nuclear materials. Hundreds of special operations personnel have arrived in the Middle East as of March. However, U.S. officials admit that this option carries significant risks. Additionally, since the ceasefire began in early April, the U.S. has rearmed warships and aircraft in the region with ammunition.
