I just realized that many people on social media and in crypto don’t know exactly what 1K means. It’s basic but important if you want to understand the numbers you see every day.
Okay, first: 1K comes from “kilo” and means 1k. So when you see “100K” in a tweet about Bitcoin or in a YouTube ad, they’re talking about 100k. Simple, right?
But here’s the interesting part. If you understand what 1K means, the rest is easy. Because 1M (one million) is basically 1k times 1K. And 1B (one billion) is 1k times 1M. That is, 1M,000.
To make it clear:
1K = 1k
10K = 10k
100K = 100k
1M = 1M
5M = 5M
10M = 10M
1B = 1B
10B = 10B
This is especially useful if you work online. YouTubers talk about “reaching 1M subscribers.” In crypto, you see “Bitcoin hit 100K.” In business, you hear “annual revenue of 5M.” If you don’t know what 1K or these terms mean, you miss important context.
The truth is, once you understand it, it’s impossible to forget. And trust me, knowing how to interpret these numbers helps you make better decisions, whether in investments, your career, or just to avoid getting lost in business conversations.
If you work with numbers or are in the crypto world, this is basic. But it’s worth being clear on it.
