Just checked the altcoin season index and it's sitting at 43 right now, down 1 point from yesterday. For those not familiar, this metric basically tracks whether altcoins are actually outperforming Bitcoin or not. The way CoinMarketCap defines altcoin season is pretty specific - they're looking at whether 75% of the top 100 cryptocurrencies (excluding stablecoins and wrapped tokens) beat Bitcoin's returns over a 90-day window. So when the altcoin season index drops like this, it's telling us that fewer alts are managing to outpace BTC. At 43, we're still pretty far from a true altcoin season environment. The index shows most alts are still trailing Bitcoin's performance lately. Worth keeping an eye on if you're trying to time when to rotate into altcoins.
