Just a curiosity that came to me while browsing — do you know who the richest person in the world is right now? Last January, the answer was quite clear, but the numbers are still impressive.

Elon Musk remains at the top with a margin that is frankly hard to comprehend. We're talking about an estimated net worth of $726 billion. The growth has been driven by SpaceX, the expansion of Starlink, and of course, his holdings in Tesla. It’s not just wealth; it’s almost a different level of economic scale compared to anyone else.

After him, the numbers are still astronomical but change a bit. Larry Page with $270 billion and Jeff Bezos at $255 billion represent that generation of tech founders who built global empires. Page benefited from Alphabet’s dominance in artificial intelligence, while Bezos continues to thrive thanks to AWS and Amazon’s logistics machine.

Sergey Brin, Larry Ellison, Mark Zuckerberg, and others complete a list that is practically dominated by the tech sector. If you look at the full ranking, the names that emerge are always the same: founders who have maintained large equity stakes in their companies and who have benefited from the explosion of AI, cloud computing, and semiconductors.

What’s striking is how quickly these fortunes have grown. AI has accelerated everything, commercial space is taking off, and the values of American tech companies continue to rise. It’s a perfect combination if you’re already positioned in the right sector with the right project.

Bernard Arnault, Steve Ballmer, Jensen Huang, and Warren Buffett close the top 10, but even they are at a level of wealth that most people can hardly imagine. The interesting thing is that most of these fortunes are tied to decisions made years ago — holding onto shares, reinvesting in growth, believing in long-term potential.
