In April 2026, BYD topped the Brazil car retail sales chart with a retail sales volume of 14,911 units in a single month, setting a new historical record in the local market and demonstrating renewed strength in overseas markets. This achievement is highly significant, as BYD also became the first new energy vehicle brand in Brazil’s history to win the retail sales championship, completely breaking the long-standing monopoly of traditional fuel vehicle companies in the local market.

Since delivering its first passenger car to Brazil in 2022, in just four years, BYD has quickly established a strong foothold in Latin America’s core market through its solid product strength and localized deployment, proving the global competitiveness of Chinese new energy vehicles with tangible sales results.

It is worth noting that Brazilian President Lula has long been a loyal user of BYD. In 2024, Lula became the owner of a Tang EV, and in 2025, BYD officially delivered its 14 millionth new energy vehicle to Lula. The recognition from the head of state serves as a strong endorsement of the brand’s quality and reputation.

Currently, Brazil has become BYD’s largest overseas single market. The local factory has produced over 50k complete vehicles to date, with ongoing improvements in localized production capacity and supply chain layout. Meanwhile, BYD has built a nationwide network covering dealerships, after-sales service, and charging stations, operating with a full-chain localization approach, deeply cultivating the local market, and steadily progressing toward the goal of becoming the annual market champion in Brazil.
