SoftBank plans to directly build energy storage systems for AI data centers

SoftBank Group of Japan has commissioned the South Korean startup Delta X to develop and manufacture data center energy storage systems (ESS) in Osaka, Japan, with the goal of mass production by the fourth quarter of 2027.
The first phase will establish a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) square battery production line with an annual capacity of 1GWh.
In addition, there are plans to operate a production line with an annual capacity of 100MWh to produce zinc-bromine batteries from Cosmos Lab of South Korea.
