Saylor confirmed two things in this interview:
- Whenever they sell $MSTR, they buy $BTC at the same time. CT commenting on the weekly average price of Saylor is literally looking at one leg of a pair trade
- When they sell $STRC, they also buy $BTC almost immediately. They don't want to hold USD and don't want to try to "time" their purchases because it introduces uncertainty
All the theories about Saylor buying on weekends are wrong, I don't know why CT always assumes Saylor is buying whenever we have a weekend scam pump.
Btw, he also said that they are not moving the price of BTC when they are buying, as in 'he doesn't see a clear short-term impact on price even when he's buying $200M an hour'.
By definition, the impact obviously can't be zero, but I also think that CT over-indexes the importance of the purchases. Most of the time, when BTC is pumping, it's not causally related to Strategy being in the books#GateSquareMayTradingShare
