#Gate广场五月交易分享 #RoaringKitty账号被盗 On May 11, 2026, the official X account of well-known financial internet celebrity "Roaring Kitty" (Roaring Kitty, real name Keith Gill) was hacked. The hacker posted three abnormal tweets between 21:14 and 21:23 UTC, including short links and phrases like "red bandit crew 4 life," which were clearly inconsistent with his usual style.

The hacker used this account to promote a Solana-based meme coin called $RKC (issued on the pumpfun platform). After a rapid surge, the token collapsed, and over 80 wallets were stolen within just a few minutes, with losses of approximately $2.86 million.
This incident also affected related assets:
GME stock experienced a brief fluctuation, soaring to about $26 before falling back to around $22.
Coincidentally, GameStop released a proxy statement regarding potential equity dilution on the same day, which sparked community speculation that the timing of the hacker incident might be "too coincidental."
Subsequent developments:
The abnormal tweets were quickly deleted.
The account had not posted any normal content since May 1.
As of now, Keith Gill has not issued an official statement.
A few points to note:
1. Account security warning: even accounts of public figures with large followings can become targets of attacks.
2. Community response: users on X generally regarded this as confirmed hacking and urged everyone to be cautious of similar scams, not to trust unverified token promotions.
This incident serves as a reminder to investors that even token recommendations from "trusted sources" need careful verification, especially amid the current meme coin craze, where hackers frequently exploit celebrity influence for scams.
Essentially, this event is another warning about the weaponization of celebrity influence. From the 2021 WallStreetBets legend to the 2026 on-chain rug pull, the name Roaring Kitty has once again proven to possess the power to shake markets — but this time, that power has been abused.
The key lesson for investors is: content posted by celebrity accounts also needs cross-verification, especially regarding token contract addresses and links. Always confirm the source’s authenticity before acting — this remains the top priority.
