Iranian Speaker: '14-Point Proposal' is Irreplaceable

On May 12, local time, Iranian Parliament Speaker Ghalibaf announced on social media that there is no alternative to accepting the rights of the Iranian people as outlined in Iran’s ‘14-point proposal.’ He indicated that any other approach would yield no results and would only lead to repeated failures. He also pointed out that the longer the delay, the greater the cost to American taxpayers. On May 2, Iran’s Tasnim News Agency revealed the latest negotiation proposal conveyed to the U.S. via Pakistan, consisting of 14 points focused on ‘ending the war.’ The main points include ensuring no further military aggression, the withdrawal of U.S. troops from the surrounding areas of Iran, lifting maritime blockades, unfreezing Iran’s frozen assets, paying compensation, lifting sanctions, achieving peace on all fronts (including Lebanon), and establishing a new management mechanism for the Strait of Hormuz. On the same day, U.S. President Trump stated that he would soon evaluate Iran’s newly proposed negotiation plan but ‘cannot imagine’ that the proposal ‘would be acceptable.’ (CCTV)
