Oh my god, recently in Hong Kong, a virtual asset scam platform called hounax has appeared, and the police have already received 131 reports, involving a total amount of 110 million HKD. Each victim was scammed out of between 12k and 4 million HKD.
The most terrifying thing is that this hounax website is still operating normally, with the user interface all in Traditional Chinese. The login page even preset the +852 Hong Kong area code, clearly targeting Hong Kong residents. The scammers pretend to be investment experts, attracting people with high returns to invest, and as a result, the money just disappears.
Hong Kong police said that most victims only reported this month, and the Securities and Futures Commission had already listed hounax as an unlicensed company back in November. Some people are still downloading the mobile app of this platform, so be really careful. If anyone around you mentions high-return investment opportunities, be extra cautious and don't fall for these scams.
