The Investment Management Agency of Nusantara Power (BPI Danantara) is rumored to be participating in the latest funding round of Anthropic, the parent company behind the currently famous artificial intelligence (AI), Claude AI.
This funding round is estimated to require between US$40 billion and US$50 billion, with a valuation expected to surpass US$900 billion or much larger than ChatGPT's parent company, OpenAI.
If this move is confirmed, it aligns with Danantara CIO Pandu Sjahrir's statement that there is an opportunity for Indonesia to play a role in this sector. After all, Indonesia has enormous energy reserves that could support AI development.
However, this news is still a hot rumor being discussed by netizens. Until now, there has been no official statement or press release from Danantara or Anthropic.
