U.S. Says Iran Attacked Navy Ships in Hormuz, Responded With Self-Defense Strikes

The U.S. Central Command said Iranian forces attacked three U.S. Navy destroyers transiting the Strait of Hormuz on May 7, and U.S. forces carried out self-defense strikes in response. CENTCOM said Iran launched multiple missiles and drones and sent several small boats toward the USS Truxtun, USS Rafael Peralta, and USS Mason. The U.S. said the ships suffered no damage. CENTCOM said it has no intention of escalating the situation.
