Dogecoin or DOGE is a cryptocurrency originally created as a joke in 2013 by Billy Markus and Jackson Palmer. Its logo uses an image of the Shiba Inu dog from the viral “Doge” meme from back then. Even though it started as a joke, Dogecoin grew into one of the popular cryptocurrencies, with a large and loyal community.

DOGE uses a Proof-of-Work system like Bitcoin, but its supply is not limited, so inflation is low. Transactions are fast and the fees are very cheap, making it suitable for tipping and online donations. Elon Musk often mentions Dogecoin on X, causing its price to rise and fall drastically.

Many people use DOGE for small transactions, to pay content creators, or just to follow trends. Its volatility is high, so the risk is significant. But the spirit of the community keeps Dogecoin going and widely known as the “people’s crypto”.
