Just figured out the whole SASSA banking details update process, and honestly it's pretty straightforward once you know where to go. For the SRD grant, the good news is you can change banking details online through their portal—no need to queue at an office. You'll need your SA ID number, and they'll send you a secure SMS link to verify everything. Takes a few days to a couple weeks for the bank to confirm, but way easier than the old permanent grant system.
If you're on a permanent grant though, that's a different story—you have to visit a SASSA office in person with your ID and bank statement. They process it there and send it to the bank, which can take up to 21 working days. Pro tip: submit before the 15th of the month if you want it to take effect next cycle, otherwise you're waiting another month.
Also make sure your phone number is updated too, especially for SRD since they use SMS for verification. Whether you're changing banking details or your contact info, always use the official SASSA portal or call the helpline—there are sketchy fake websites out there trying to catch people. The official channels are safest for protecting your personal information.
