Coinbase will cease trading 12 perpetual contracts on May 21.
Coinbase Markets will temporarily suspend trading of 12 perpetual contracts around 21:00 on May 21st (Beijing time), including KAITO, SENT, SAHARA, CAKE, TOSHI, AKT, VET, ANIME, THETA, ZK, KERNEL, and BARD.
Open positions will be automatically liquidated at this time. The final settlement price will be calculated based on the average price of the index over the 60 minutes prior to trading suspension, and the funding rate for the final period will be set to 0.
Coinbase states that it reserves the right to suspend trading at any time and adjust the final settlement price to a reasonable level if necessary. This move aims to maintain the quality of the derivatives market and focus on products that meet liquidity and market quality standards.
The affected contracts span multiple tokens, but the announcement does not specify additional reasons for each code. There is no further information at this time about whether these contracts will be reopened after the suspension.
