The U.S. military activates Bitcoin nodes in experiments to explore their cybersecurity value

Crypto World News: U.S. Indo-Pacific Commander Admiral Samuel Paparo stated before the Senate Armed Services Committee that Bitcoin has significant value for military cybersecurity, calling it a “valuable computer science tool.” He revealed that the Indo-Pacific Command is running Bitcoin nodes for related experiments. This comment was made shortly after Iran requested Bitcoin payments for secure passage through the Strait of Hormuz. The concept of “power projection” mentioned by Paparo echoes the work of Bitcoin advocate Jason Lowry, who explores Bitcoin’s unique value in cybersecurity in his book “Soft War.” Lowry’s views sparked widespread discussion, but his book was withdrawn at the request of superiors, suggesting its content may involve important information. According to the U.S. Department of Defense, power projection refers to a nation’s ability to rapidly and effectively deploy and sustain forces to respond to crises and enhance regional stability. Lowry believes that Bitcoin’s proof-of-work mechanism can play a role in cybersecurity, although the Indo-Pacific Command did not explicitly mention Bitcoin assets themselves.
