Senator Elizabeth Warren asked Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg to answer seven questions about a reported third-party stablecoin trial and a possible rollout across Meta’s 3.5 billion-user network in the second half of 2026. Warren said the move could create financial stability and consumer privacy risks, and she questioned whether MetaPay may be updated to let users hold stablecoins directly. Warren requested answers by May 20, including whether Meta has selected a third-party issuer, what controls are in place, and whether Meta still plans to avoid issuing its own stablecoin.
