I’ve noticed that a lot of people ask me the same question: how can you truly identify promising cryptocurrencies without getting taken for a ride? Honestly, it’s a good question, because so many projects pop up every day.
If I had to focus on the essentials, I’d say there are three really important things to check before investing. First, the project’s real utility—not just marketing noise. Does it really solve a problem? Do people actually use it? You can look at metrics like TVL or the number of active users to get an idea. Next, the team behind it. A solid team with a real background makes all the difference. I’d review the whitepaper and the founders’ backgrounds on LinkedIn. Finally, the community’s energy. A large, active community on X, Discord, or Telegram is often a good sign.
To be honest, I’m never going to advise you to invest in meme coins like Dogecoin or Shiba Inu, even if they can be profitable in the short term. That’s not really serious.
Now let’s talk about the promising cryptocurrencies I’m watching. In 2023, I had spotted several projects that really performed. XRP did a x2,3, Cardano’s ADA doubled and a half, and Polkadot’s DOT also doubled. Even BNB, despite legal issues, did a x2,4 including 2024. So overall, the analysis wasn’t bad.
For 2024 and beyond, I’m particularly watching Avalanche. The blockchain has reached 20 billion in market capitalization and ranked in the top 10. What interests me is its speed, its scalability, and how easy it is for developers. The crazy thing is that the founder of Aave and a co-founder of Chainlink support the project. AVAX has already done x3 in 2023, so there could potentially still be room.
Cardano is also interesting. Created by a co-founder of Ethereum, it’s an open-source blockchain for dApps. Yes, it’s called the Ethereum Killer because the ambition is clearly to dethrone Ethereum. That’s quite a challenge, but the team has the skills.
In the end, promising cryptocurrencies are the ones that have real utility, a competent team, and an engaged community. That’s my main filter, and it’s served me pretty well so far.
