Just saw Durov threw down a bold statement: TON is 6,000 times faster than Bitcoin?! My first reaction was that he was bragging, but then I checked the data, and there’s actually some substance to it👇

The reason is that TON did a Catchain 2.0 upgrade, directly reducing block time to 400 milliseconds, with final transaction confirmation in just 0.6 seconds. What does that mean? It takes Bitcoin about an hour to consider a transaction “settled,” while TON can finish in the blink of an eye. The speed is ridiculously fast, and transaction fees have dropped to around $0.0005, almost free.

But don’t just look at the cool factor. The cost is not small—TON’s annual inflation rate has increased from 0.6% to 3.6%, and the validation nodes are relatively centralized (Telegram itself is a major shareholder). Basically, it’s trading “centralization level” for speed. Whether it’s worth it depends on if you care about that one-hour confirmation time.

Anyway, the technical competition is truly fascinating. Do you think public chains should push for maximum speed, or should they honestly focus on decentralization? Share your thoughts in the comments👇
