Techub News reports that, according to Decrypt, Google DeepMind has acquired a minority stake in Icelandic game studio Fenris Creations (formerly CCP Games), with plans to use the complex virtual environment of "EVE Online" to test artificial intelligence behavior. The research will be conducted in an offline-controlled version of "EVE Online," not connected to the live server Tranquility. DeepMind CEO Demis Hassabis stated that the collaboration will explore safely advancing AI research within a player-driven complex universe, while Fenris described it as a unique simulation scenario for testing general artificial intelligence behavior in a sandbox environment.
