According to Iranian media reports, Iran’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Iraj Masjedi, said on the 27th that the United States openly violates international law, continues to impose illegal sanctions on Iran, and forcibly seizes Iranian ships and crew members, “like pirates and terrorists.” Iran demands that the U.S. immediately and unconditionally release the relevant personnel and ships.
According to reports from Iran’s Islamic Republic Broadcasting and other media outlets, Iraj Masjedi stated during a speech at the United Nations Security Council that maritime transportation in the Persian Gulf, Oman Sea, and Strait of Hormuz is obstructed, with the full responsibility lying with the United States and its supporters. Iran has taken measures to maintain maritime security and prevent the Strait of Hormuz from being used for hostile military purposes.
Iraj Masjedi said that only when the United States and Israel completely cease their aggression against Iran and provide a “reliable guarantee” not to invade Iran again, and fully respect Iran’s sovereignty and legitimate rights, can lasting security and stability be achieved in the Persian Gulf and surrounding areas.
