Trump did not explicitly state that Iran violated the ceasefire agreement

Golden Finance reports that on May 5th, U.S. President Trump, in an interview with ABC on the 4th, seemed to intentionally downplay the consequences of Iran’s attack on commercial ships and the UAE that day, and did not explicitly state that these actions violated the U.S.-Iran ceasefire agreement. When asked whether the ceasefire agreement had been violated, Trump said: “That was not intense fighting… there was no firefight at the time. I believe there were some recent firefight incidents, and I am investigating them.” Regarding the alleged missile and drone attacks by Iran on the UAE, Trump said that the vast majority of missiles and drones were shot down, “only one got through, and the damage was not serious.” Trump stated that overreacting would be very unfavorable to Iran, “but not for me.” Iran should “pray” that the ceasefire agreement continues to be in effect. “The best outcome for them is that we continue to uphold this agreement.” (Xinhua News Agency)
