North Korea Rejects Crypto Theft Claims as Linked Hackers Stole $577M This Year

North Korea rejected allegations of involvement in crypto theft after groups linked to the country were blamed for about $577 million in stolen funds in the first four months of this year. TRM Labs said those groups accounted for about 76% of global crypto theft losses in the same period, including attacks on KelpDAO and Drift Protocol. The U.S. Treasury Department recently sanctioned individuals and entities tied to about $800 million in illicit fund flows in 2024.
