I recently noticed an amusing point on X - Kimball Musk, Elon’s brother, has criticized Trump regarding tariff policies. The guy didn’t hesitate to call it a structural tax on American consumers. Interestingly, it seems the brothers still respect each other despite their differences in views.
Kimball Musk is quite a character. A 52-year-old billionaire with a net worth of around 700 million dollars, mainly from Tesla shares. But his main distinction is that he always wears a cowboy hat. It’s his signature look that makes him recognizable in a crowd.
He looks very similar to Elon: both were born in Pretoria, have the same square jawline, straight nose, and green eyes. Plus, they hold triple citizenship — South African, Canadian, and American. But while Elon is better known for his ambitious projects, Kimball focuses on different priorities.
The Musk family history is quite tough. Kimball, his brother Elon, and sister Tosca (50 years old) experienced violence in childhood, which led to their mother Maya’s divorce in 1979. After that, the family moved to Canada and the US. An interesting fact: both brothers co-founded Zip2, a business software startup, which they sold to Compaq in 1999 for 307 million dollars. So, the Musk story isn’t just about Elon and his rockets.
