Senators seek details on loan between Lutnick family trust and Tether

Democratic Senators Elizabeth Warren and Ron Wyden asked for details on a loan tied to Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick and collateral linked to a $600 million Tether stake. The loan went to a trust owned by Lutnick’s children after Lutnick sold his Cantor Fitzgerald stake to the trust to comply with federal ethics rules before taking office, and the amount was not disclosed. The senators asked whether Tether offered preferential treatment or sought influence; the Commerce Department said it followed ethics rules, and Tether did not comment.
