[Zcash Foundation: Releases Zebra 4.4.0 Version, Fixes Multiple Consensus-Level Security Vulnerabilities, and Urges Nodes to Upgrade Immediately]

The Zcash Foundation officially announces the release of Zebra 4.4.0. This update fixes several critical consensus-level security vulnerabilities and strongly recommends all node operators to upgrade immediately, including a denial-of-service vulnerability that can cause permanent stoppage of new block discovery, consensus disagreements caused by errors in block signature (sigops) counting, anomalies in transparent transaction signature hash processing, and risks of memory allocation amplification attacks.

The Zcash Foundation states that some of these vulnerabilities could cause Zebra nodes to accept blocks rejected by zcashd, leading to chain forks. If not updated promptly, nodes may face risks such as interrupted block discovery, consensus splits, and increased resource consumption, and currently, there are no alternative mitigation measures.
