Lately I've been looking at cross-chain bridges again. To be honest, my biggest fear isn't slowness, but chaos—slow can be waited out for confirmation, but chaos means I really don't know whose account the money is on. Multi-signature looks reassuring with "someone watching," but once signers are dispersed or permissions are changed repeatedly, problems turn into finger-pointing; oracles are the same, if the price feed/status feed is off for a moment, the chain reaction that follows is huge. Anyway, before cross-chain transfers now, I deliberately wait for several more confirmations; I'd rather be late to get on than turn "saving time" into "can't sleep." Recently, that main chain's upgrade/maintenance has the community guessing whether the ecosystem will move away. I think there's no need to rush; bridges are most vulnerable to scrutiny during such times. Just stay alive first.
