A medical team from China (Shanxi) delivered a batch of medicines and medical equipment to Mbarmayo Hospital in the Mbaramayo area of central Cameroon on the 22nd, to support the development of local healthcare services. In his remarks, Xiao Guofeng, counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Cameroon, said that healthcare cooperation is an important component of practical China-Cameroon cooperation, and that the medicines and equipment donated by the Chinese medical team carry the deep friendship between the Chinese government and people. Enkongo Vidorin, director of Mbarmayo Hospital, expressed her sincere thanks to the Chinese medical team for the donation in her remarks. She said that the medicines and equipment will be used directly for patients’ treatment and care, helping the hospital improve its overall medical service capacity and benefiting a broad range of patients.

Zhang Chao, captain of the Mbarmayo detachment of the Cameroon Medical Assistance Team, said that the team specifically selected medicines that are most urgently needed locally, such as antimalarials, antibiotics, antihypertensives, and antidiabetics, as well as equipment including surgical instruments, protective equipment, and traditional Chinese acupuncture needles. The medicines and equipment, traveling more than 10,000 kilometers, arrived in Cameroon, conveying the goodwill of all team members. The team hopes to relieve more patients of their suffering and bring them health.

It is reported that since 1975, China has sent 25 medical teams to Cameroon, providing outpatient and emergency services for more than 3.3 million person-times, and has been widely praised by the Cameroonian people. The 25th batch of the Chinese medical assistance team currently has detachments in Yaoundé and Mbarmayo. (Xinhua)
