On April 28, as U.S. lawmakers push to formally enshrine Trump’s ‘Strategic Bitcoin Reserve’ into law, White House Chief Cryptocurrency Advisor Patrick Witt announced that a ‘major announcement’ regarding the next steps for the reserve will be made in the coming weeks. Speaking at the Bitcoin 2026 conference in Las Vegas on Monday, Witt, who serves as the Executive Director of the President’s Advisory Council on Digital Assets, stated that he and his team have been advancing the work related to the strategic Bitcoin reserve. He noted, ‘The President signed an executive order on the strategic Bitcoin reserve last year, and we have since been working on the specific mechanisms and necessary legal interpretations required to implement the plan correctly and to safeguard the digital assets on the government’s balance sheet, particularly Bitcoin.’
