Iran denies holding new US-Iran talks, accusing Trump of "lying again"

In response to remarks by U.S. President Trump on the 22nd about the possibility of a new round of talks between the U.S. and Iran being held on the 24th, Iran’s Tasnim News Agency said that Trump “is lying again.” Iran has not yet decided whether to take part in talks on the 24th. The report said that Trump, in remarks described as “contradictory” to the New York Post, indicated that the second round of talks with Iran could be held on the 24th. However, so far, Iran has not changed its plan not to participate in the talks. The Iranian government has not issued an official position on extending the ceasefire. According to the New York Post in its report on the 22nd, Trump said that he “may” hold peace talks with Iran within the next 36 to 72 hours. The report said that Pakistani sources stated that mediation efforts between Pakistan and Iran have made positive progress, rekindling the possibility of holding more peace talks within the next “36 to 72 hours.” In response, Trump replied to the newspaper’s inquiry by text message, saying, “There’s a possibility!” (Xinhua)
