Freeport-McMoRan (NYSE:FCX) has joined the exclusive club of mining companies with a market capitalization exceeding $100 billion, driven by a 38% rise in its shares in 2026. This milestone comes as the company prepares to release its first-quarter earnings, with a key focus on the recovery of its Grasberg copper and gold mine in Indonesia after a devastating mud-rush in September 2025. The company expects to restore 85% of Grasberg’s production capacity by the second half of this year and has recently secured an extension of its mining permit beyond 2041.
