I just saw that Apple removed Bitchat from the App Store in China. The app is by Jack Dorsey, the guy who founded Twitter, and it turns out that Chinese authorities consider it problematic for violating their rules on public opinion content. Bitchat is a decentralized messaging app that works peer-to-peer, so you can chat without servers or internet, only with Bluetooth. Jack Dorsey launched it recently through his company Permissionless Tech. The interesting thing is that the beta version was also blocked in China, but it is still available in other countries. I guess Jack Dorsey knew this could happen in China, but it's still strange to see how authorities go after these decentralized apps. Do you think this will affect the app's development in other markets?
