just realized i never actually understood what 1k means until i started tracking crypto numbers lol. been seeing it everywhere - youtube views, twitter followers, portfolio values - but never really broke it down. so K is short for kilo which is just thousand, right? so 1k = 1,000 and 10k = 10,000. seems simple but when you're looking at charts all day it's easy to gloss over. then there's million which is 1,000,000 - that's where things get wild. like when people flex about hitting a million followers or making a million in crypto, that's actually a pretty big deal when you think about the zeros. and billion? that's 1,000,000,000. honestly that number is so massive it doesn't even feel real sometimes. i think what 1k means really hits different depending on context though. in crypto, 1k on a chart might mean nothing, but 1k followers or 1k in your wallet? that changes the conversation. been working in this space for a bit now and these terms just come up constantly - whether it's discussing market cap, portfolio value, or social metrics. definitely worth understanding them properly instead of just nodding along when people throw these numbers around.
