U.S. Jobless Claims Fall to 189,000 as Labor Market Stays Stable
U.S. initial jobless claims fell to 189,000 for the week ending April 25, pointing to stable labor market conditions. Continuing claims declined by 23,000 to 1.785 million, and economists said the unemployment rate in April appeared to remain steady. Economists also warned that shipping disruptions through the Strait of Hormuz and higher commodity prices still pose downside risks.
