Dozens of people detained for 40 hours, Gaza aid fleet members abused and beaten by Israeli soldiers

On May 1st, local time, activists on the Gaza aid flotilla recently intercepted by the Israeli military stated that 60 people were detained for 40 hours, during which they were abused and beaten by Israeli forces, dragged on the floor, resulting in multiple injuries.
Earlier in April, the Gaza aid flotilla “Global Resilience Fleet” consisting of 58 ships departed from several countries along the Mediterranean coast, planning to deliver humanitarian supplies to Gaza.
From the night of April 29th to the 30th, the flotilla was intercepted by Israeli warships in international waters near Greece.
On May 1st, the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that most of the detained participants in the Gaza flotilla operation had been released on the Greek island of Crete, but two activists from the “Global Resilience Fleet” were still detained and taken to Israel for questioning on suspicion of links to terrorist organizations, including Spanish citizen Saif Abu Keshik.
In response, Spanish Foreign Minister Alvarez condemned the detention and demanded Israel immediately release Abu Keshik.
Alvarez stated that the Spanish embassy in Israel and the consulate in Greece are fully providing consular protection to the involved citizens. (CCTV News)
