I just reviewed how Messi's wealth has evolved over the past decade, and honestly, the growth is quite impressive. It went from about $280 million in 2016 to nearly $900 million projected for this year. That’s no coincidence, of course.

Most of this increase comes from the elite contracts he has signed, especially after his moves between Europe and the United States. Sponsorship deals have also been key, especially with global brands that want to associate with his image. Not to mention the payments for his success in international tournaments, which were quite substantial.

What’s interesting is to see how Messi’s wealth accelerated more in recent years. Between 2021 and 2024, it jumped from $600 million to $800 million, reflecting both his market value as a person and the commercial agreements he has closed. Bloomberg and Forbes sources agree on these figures.

If this continues, Messi’s wealth could keep growing through his investments and new projects. It’s a good reminder of how elite sports generate wealth at levels most people can’t imagine.
